Operations Planning and Preparation involves:
- Scheduling and supervising pre-field integration testing of MPD equipment to determine its readiness for mobilization to the rig,
- Supervising the on-site testing of the MPD system after installation to determine operational readiness prior to commencement of MPD operations
- Developing, summarizing, and distributing contingency plans
- Developing and if necessary conducting contingency planning workshops
- Defining MPD operational procedures, identifying responsibilities, and developing MPD operational and safety procedures manuals for the Customer
The Operations Planning & Preparation tasks will depend on the scope of work and may include:
- Determining locations on the rig or worksite for the MPD equipment
- Specifying clean-up and area readiness tasks to prepare the designated rig space for equipment delivery
- Identifying the location of the rig power supply transformer and electrical power cable paths
- Identifying interconnecting piping paths
- Measuring distances to and photographing piping tie-in points
- Identifying data requirements (local and remote)
- Defining data inputs needed by MPD service and identifying data providers
- Document data communications requirements and setup and assist with the specification and selection of the data communication provider
- Define need for, and number and location of rig data monitors
In addition, Operations Planning & Preparation may also involve:
- Defining training requirements related to the well objectives and MPD applications, HAZID/HAZOP awareness, MPD operations, MPD procedures, and HSE for MPD
- Identifying office and rig personnel for training
- Coordinating and conducting MPD training, if necessary
- Developing MPD training materials
