Depleted Fields / Narrow Margins

...South Texas
...Gulf of Mexico
...North Sea

In this application the objective typically involves drilling producing targets too risky or costly to drill conventionally. It involves drilling the undrillable.

Operators want to maintain wellbore stability, avoid losses and reduce nonproductive time and drilling cost.

@balance provides the pressure control technology to keep the bottomhole pressure between upper and lower pressure limits that are too close together for the unavoidably high ECD of conventional drilling.

Our people and technology held the BHP constant and avoided the losses experienced in previous wells.

Expanded Access to Reserves

...Gulf of Mexico
...North Sea

@balance has enabled its customers to drill known reserves stranded between horizontal producing wells and unreachable with convention drilling methods below depleted reservoirs.

The DAPC system has enabled operators to reduce static mud weight by over 2 ppg and maintain a constant equivalent circulating density to improve wellbore stability and avoid differential sticking and lost circulation. The benefit is expanded access to proven reserves with slim horizontal and directional wells drilled through unstable shale and depleted sands.

Drilling Optimization

...South China Sea

The DAPC system provided a Far East drilling operator an effective way to optimize drilling by balancing the mud weight 1.5 ppg below wellbore stability and by managing the ECD below the fracture pressure in over 9 wells and 500 connections.

Combined improvements in mud rheology and ECD management led to better hole cleaning, less nonproductive time and more drilling time.
