Since its incorporation in December 2004, At Balance has lead the trend in automated managed pressure drilling - a new upstream technology segment focused on delivering the benefits of constant bottomhole pressure control.

Our Automated Pressure Drilling services provide the pressure stability needed to maintain the bottomhole pressure at balance during all phases of well construction.

Operators drilling with constant bottomhole pressure reduce conventional drilling cost, reduce formation damage, and enable drilling in areas with pressure margins too narrow and technically difficult for conventional techniques.

Ownership - Shell Technology Ventures Fund 1 B.V.
At Balance and Shell Technology Ventures Fund 1 B.V. announced an agreement to sell a minority interest in At Balance to Smith International, Inc.

For some time now Shell Technology Ventures has invested in dynamic annular pressure control technology to benefit drilling in areas where conventional techniques are unable to deliver the objectives cost effectively.

Now managed by Kenda Capital B.V., the Fund focuses on accelerating the development and deployment of new technologies across the energy sector and maintains a unique technology relationship with the Shell Group.

New Ownership - Smith International, Inc
Their agreement to acquire a minority interest in At Balance will position Smith with a complete managed pressure drilling system to control the pressure profile throughout the wellbore.

At Balance will provide Automated Pressure Drilling services around the world to customers facing pressure related drilling challenges.
